Summer Summary

Month of June:  nothing but relaxing!  This is where I spent (almost) the entire month!  My skin is going to look like worn leather!  Oh yeah, I watched TV.  Too much TV.  Didn't even read a book.  I'm ashamed of myself.

I did do one real job these last few days of June.  I have made a set of close reads for our big FARM unit in September.  I have just uploaded it to TeachersPayTeachers.  If you are interested, click on the photo.  I started using close reads last year and they are wonderful!  I have never seen that much improvement in my kids' reading from one single change!  Really.

Month of July:
1.  Catch up on the blog book studies.
2.  Spend some time working in my classroom.  Painting shelves and organizing Word Work Center.
3.  Cook more.  Maybe.  Maybe not.

Snow Day Productivity

Three snow days in a row?  That's unheard of in Alabama!  I pretty much wasted the first two days, but today I woke up with a mission… make an "Arctic Animal Write the Room Activity" for my upcoming Arctic Animal unit.  It has been posted to TPT if you are interested.

NEW President's Day Activities

Happy Groundhog Day!  Where I live, the groundhog did not see his shadow, so hopefully SPRING will be here soon!  (probably wishful thinking)  While everyone else has been getting ready for tonight's big game, I've been busy making a couple of new items for President's Day!  They are both for sale now on TeachersPayTeachers.

"We the People: A Patriotic Write-the-Room Activity" is 12 cards with words and pictures of American sites and symbols.  It includes a recording sheet that students may want to keep so that they can spell these words correctly when they write.

"Sites, Songs and Symbols of the USA" is an 18-page reproducible book to use when teaching about America.  Each page has a picture and a paragraph or two that could be used for close reads in Kindergarten and First Grade.

Now I'm off the watch Downton Abbey!
